The program begins with a comprehensive Executive Health Evaluation — an extremely thorough set of diagnostics that establishes your personal hormonal, metabolic and physical baseline. Next,RejuveGenics partners with you creating a multi-faceted program that meets your health goals and successfully manages your aging process. Each program will be tailored to your specific needs and goals.
The program involves five areas:
- RejuveGenics Age Management System keeps your health on course, tracking progress, reviewing test results, discussing annual exams and determining adjustments to your personal program along the way.
- Hormonal optimization using bioidentical hormones to help hormone-deficient adults regain a balanced, healthy endocrinologic state so their bodies function optimally.
- Chelation to remove toxic, heavy metals from the body.
- Whole food nutritional supplements that help correct nutrient deficiencies commonly found in today’s diet and environment.
- A nutritional plan designed to support age management, fight cancer and boost your immune system.
- A physical conditioning program tailored to your needs and lifestyle including resistance/weight training, cardiovascular and flexibility exercises.
Toxic Metal IV Challenge Test
Over the past century there has been a serious rise in the environment of neuro-toxic chemicals and heavy metals such as mercury and lead. The resultant accumulation of heavy metals in the body poses significant health risks. Chronic mercury exposure from occupational, environmental, dental amalgam and contaminated food exposure is a significant threat to public health. Heavy metals reside in tissue and do not circulate in the blood. In order to determine a person's level of heavy metals requires an IV challenge with a chelating agent such as DMPS or EDTA. After the IV a person collects their urine for six hours and a sample of this is sent to a lab that specializes in testing for heavy metals. This type of test is the gold standard for testing for toxic heavy metal levels.
Fitness Assessment
The fitness assessment involves the following: (1) Body Measurements: pulse rate, blood pressure, weight, height and waist measurement. (2) Muscular Endurance: push-ups and curl-ups. (3) Core/Stability Testing: plank test. (4) Muscular Strength: hand grip test. (5) Balance Testing: standing balance test. (5) VO2 Max Test: see below for detailed explanation.
VO2 Max Testing
The VO2 Max Test is the Gold Standard of the medical and fitness industries for assessing fitness through cardiopulmonary efficiency. The test measures how well the heart and the lungs work together to supply the muscles with oxygen. Dr. Walters and his nutrition and exercise counselor, Julie Vigil, will use this information as a baseline of health to track progress and prescribe an appropriate exercise program. This test utilizes a stationary bike ergometer.
DEXA Testing
DEXA stands for "dual energy x-ray absorptiometry". The scan is a very mild exposure x-ray scan that is used to assess bone density and body composition. Because of the (purposefully) low radiation exposure, the resolution of the scan is not finite enough to accurately detect/diagnose diseases or anatomical abnormalities, such as tumors or lumps. It is, nevertheless, the Gold Standard in the medical and fitness industries for body composition and bone density analysis. The results are used to establish a baseline of your health and track your progress as you reach your health goals.
Cognitive Testing
CNS Vital Signs is an interactive computer program that measures a patients' mental functions and processes from simple motor performance, attention, memory and executive functions. The assessment battery allows us to acquire a baseline and subsequently follow each patient's neurocognitive function longitudinally.
Nutrition/Fitness Consultation
Each patient will meet with our nutrition/fitness counselor to discuss in detail the results of their fitness tests and the part of their 30-page history form that involves their current nutrition and fitness program. An individualized fitness and nutrition program will then be recommended based on your ability and interests. Specific supplements will be recommended to optimize your health as well.
Extensive Blood Analysis
Over 80 individual blood tests will be evaluated. They include: Chem-Screen: glucose, hemoglobin A1C, insulin, BUN, creatine, BUN/creatine ratio, sodium, potassium, chloride, magnesium, phosphate, calcium, uric acid, total protein, albumin, globulin, A/G ratio, total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, alkaline phosphatse, GGTP, lactate dehydrogenase, AST, ALT, iron, %iron saturation, ferritin. Cholesterol Panel: total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL, coronary risk ratio, VLDL. Homocysteine and cardiac CRP. CBC w/differential and platelet: WBC, RBC, hemoglobin, hematocrit, MCV, MCH, MCHC, RDW, platelet count, MPV, absolute neutrophils, absolute lymphocytes, absolute monocytes, absolute eosinophils, absolute basophils, % neutrophils, % lymphocytes, % monocytes, % eosinophils, % basophils. Hormone Panel: total cortisol, total testosterone, free testosterone, % free testosterone, dihydrotestosterone, luteinizing hormone, estradiol, DHEA sulfate, PSA, IGT-1, IGF-BP3, sex hormone binding globulin. Thyroid Panel: TSH, free T3, free T4. Urinalysis: color, appearance, specific gravity, pH, protein, glucose, ketones, blood, bilirubin, nitrites, leukocytes.
History and Physical Exam
A comprehensive 30-page history intake form is filled out by each patient prior to being scheduled for their 6-7 hour executive health evaluation. Each patient also has thorough physical exam by Dr. Walters.
Physician Consultation
Each patient will receive a detailed 1-2 hour consultation with Dr. Walters depending on the number of tests to discuss. Each diagnostic test will be discussed in detail with Dr. Walters who will give his recommendations to correct any deficiencies or abnormalities. Next, Dr. Walters and his staff, partners with you creating a multi-faceted program that meets your health goals and successfully manages your aging process. Each program will be tailored to your specific needs and goals.
